Location:

  In Bale Mill State Park, 20 miles north of NAPA.  3 miles north of ST. HELENA and 5 miles south of CALISTOGA on Hwy 128.
   

Comments:

  A water powered gristmill built by Dr. E. T. Bale. Was restored in 1988 by of California.  36 ft overshot wheel has been replaced, and the mill is again open to the public year round, and in operation.  Grinding is done four times a day on weekends and cornmeal, hard & soft wheat, rye and polenta flours are sold.  Gift items and souvenirs are sold in the Mill Store.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 06/22/72.  Admission charge. 

Operation Schedule:

  Open on Weekends 10:00 to 5:00 year round.
During the Summer Open Daily 10:00 to 5:00.
School Groups can be scheduled on Tuesdays by contacting the Park.

Festivals:

  Old Mill Days is held the third weekend in October.
Pioneer Christmas is held on the 2nd Saturday in December.
