Comments:

Although the date 1832 is painted on the front of the mill, there is documentation that it was actually built in 1837 by Edward Bonney.   Mill has the only horizontal operating waterwheel in Indiana.  It has been restored by the Elkhart County Dept. of Parks and Recreation as a central theme of Bonneyville Mill County Park.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.  All types of flour and meal are ground and sold in the mill.  SPOOM member John Jenney is the miller.  No admission charge.  There is also a replica of a wooden farm windmill with Perkins works across from the mill.
