Location:

 

Near LAWSON, Hwy 69 north of EXCELSIOR SPRINGS.  Two access points - at RA Rd, or MM Rd., watch for signs on 69.

   

Comments:

  A three story brick, steam powered woolen mill built by Walton Watkins.  Has all textile milling equipment intact; also an "Evans-type" gristmill in the building.  The mill and Greek Revival style house and out-buildings make up the WATKINS WOOLEN MILL STATE HISTORIC SITE, which is a living history-style park.   Site is owned by the Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 11/13/66.  Photo: PM varied.

      April 1 through Oct. 31
             Monday-Saturday       10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.
             Sunday                        11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

      Nov. 1 through March 31
            Monday-Saturday         10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
            Sunday                          11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

A fee is charged for guided tours.
